hello, 2014...

well happy 2014 everyone!
i decided that this super girly, sparkly, and leopard print outfit was perfect for the new year.
i got these bottoms {as a christmas gift} from charming charlie.
and i discovered that leopard leggings are extremely hard to pull off when you are short and curvy!
i completely wish that it was still as stylish as it used to be to wear skirts over leggings.
a large oversized sweater would have been perfect but of course i don't have one!
i really should have one- everyone has one and they are so cute.
so i had to get creative and go shopping in my own closet.
and i have to tell you- just about every single item i own was on my floor!
it took me so long to find a top that went well with the leggings and was still flattering.
so anyways, this is what i came up with!
overly feminine outfits are the best- don't you think?
oh, and also- this scarf is from wal mart!
it's really hard to tell from the pictures but there are little gold sequins scattered all over it.
i absolutely love it.
all of the scarves at wal mart were really cute actually.
sometimes that store can surprise me!

typography and midnight blue...

ok, so i have to start off by talking about my favorite piece in this outfit- the crossbody bag!
i have been dying over this marc jacobs bag for so long.
so when i saw the one in my pictures on sale at h&m for less than $10- i could not resist!
it looks so much like the marc jacobs bag that i have been drooling over.
so naturally, i like to pretend that my h&m bag is actually marc jacobs.
obviously...
but really- when i was at h&m last weekend they had so many cute, cute bags that were on sale.
seriously, go there.
and this blouse i also got from h&m for $6!
and these pants were from rue21 for less than $10 also.
and these steve madden shoes that i've worn in a couple of posts already i got at a garage sale for less than $5.
so this entire outfit was less than $30!
bargain shopping is the absolute best...

top: h&m
pants: rue21
shoes: steve madden
bag: h&m

and just a side story-
and looong story short....
we took our little dog with us while we took these pictures.
we left him in the car with it running and he stepped on the lock button and locked us out!
our cell phones were in the car and it was a sunday so businesses weren't open to let us use their phones!
we also don't have a spare key to this particular car.
oh and it was below freezing out and we weren't dressed appropriately.
luckily, we found a hispanic mini mart that was open and they actually came to the rescue and drove to our car and helped us open one of the doors without having to call a locksmith.
it was a crazy adventure!
we were so beyond grateful that they were willing to take their time to come out in the cold and help us.
being kind goes soo far...

so these pictures were taken after all of that happened and i was just about frozen.
a lot of the pictures were actually blurry because i couldn't stop shaking!
so yeah- don't ever leave your dog in the car while it's running without your phones or a spare key!

have a good week- it's almost christmas!

sweet native...

this outfit includes a whole bunch of my very favorite things!
~
native print.
it is just the cutest thing ever right now.
this headband is the very first native piece to land in my wardrobe- but hopefully not the last.
hearts.
anything with hearts, well, steals my heart!
and they just look adorable no matter what the season.
peplum.
well, who doesn't love peplum??
pointy-toed heels.
so feminine and classy.
and they help add some length to shorter legs, like mine- which is a must!
a dainty clutch.
this clutch is super special to me because it was a gift from my mom last easter.
and she got it at an antique store which makes me love it a thousand times more!
and it's silver.
silver is coming back and i'm finally getting really excited about it.
a white winter coat.
this coat is making me so excited for christmas that i can't even stand it!
~
and these are just a few of my favorite things...

coat: bb dakota via dillards
top: rue21
skirt: bb dakota via a thrift store
shoes: steve madden (got them at a yard sale for $3!)
headband: monroe & harlow
clutch: antique store

my mom bought this magazine for me because i LOVE the hills!
i always have and always will.
i have every season on dvd and they have gotten me through some of the toughest times throughout the last few years.
i haven't had the opportunity to read through it yet, but i'm hoping i will get the chance right after i finish this post!
i can't wait to read all about what heidi, lauren, and audrina have been up to...
has anyone else read this magazine yet??

holdiay coziness...

holdiay coziness...being away from my home and my family, things just don't feel quite like christmas.
and the fact that i am in the warm southern california weather definitely doesn't help either!
so after a long week of school (i only got thanksgiving day off), i broke out my christmas candle, and i have the justin bieber holiday station playing on pandora.
and i must say- it is beginning to feel a bit like christmas in my little room.
i laid out my outfit for tomorrow already and i picked capris and a short sleeve top.
and i'm just wishing that i could wear a warm cozy sweater with boots and mittens...
if i could, i would pick an outift just like this one.

DIY leg warmers (made to look like socks!)

boots, boots, and more boots!
they seem to be a girl's best friend these days.
and i am okay with that because i loovve boots.
however, everywhere i see boots i also find socks that are showing above the boots.
and sadly, i don't own one single pair of cute long socks.
so today i resorted to making a pair!
although i don't think you can call them socks, since they don't actually cover your feet.
so lets just call them leg warmers.
let me know if you have a better name!

so this is probably the most easy diy project ever!
my mom and i recently scoured some thrift stores and bought some sweaters that we thought would be cute to cut up and make into headbands.
well, with a lack of time, it hasn't happened.
but today when i was putting together my outfit for my next outfit post, i thought of the brilliant idea to make some false socks to go under my boots from one of the sweaters that we bought.
yes, love it when that happens!

so all that I did was took some handy fabric scissors and cut off each sleeve about half way up the arm.

next i just scrunched them below my knees and slipped on some boots!
this is such an easy way to add a little something fun and unique to any outfit.
i will be showing off the rest of this outfit in the next day or two for my next post, so be sure to check back!

for the love of stripes

yesterday was my attempt at fashion post #2.
i read somewhere that you're not supposed to do fashion posts if you're not a fashion blog.
but who really makes the rules anyways?
it's too much fun pretending to be a model for an hour or so.
so i'm sure you've noticed that stripes have become very popular lately.
unfortuantely, i own very few striped items.
the one in this outfit was actually adopted from my mom's closet.
oops mom, i'm sorry, i know you hate it when i do that!
but really, what are daughters for?
(i'm pretty sure i pointed it out in the store anyways.)
so really, it's half mine! ;)

sweater: francesca's
shirt: downeast basics
leggings: downeast basics
boots: wild diva (amazon.com)
belt + accessories: forever21
sunglasses: coach

this was also my first attempt at red lipstick.
i think i like...

something that i've learned from other blogs is to buy skinny belts and tie them around your waist.

to see more, go here.

i hope everyone has a fantastic week!
hopefully i will be able to find some free time to come back and post...
