7 things to make a weekend magical...

it may have been a little chilly, but it was nice to stop and look below the pier and see the long haired surfers riding along the waves.
it was nice to watch the beach paintball tournaments from above.
it was nice to see the young boy at his booth performing magic tricks.
it was nice to end our walk with lunch at ruby's, in a booth with a beautiful beach view.

it was nice that it was with him.
weekends when he visits are just the greatest.

it was nice having my diet coke refilled over and over.

it was nice sharing a milkshake... especially since it was his favorite flavor.

it was nice having my best friend to take silly pictures with in the car.

it was nice being able to wear my first maxi dress (first one ever that hasn't been too long on me).

and it was nice to be able to go to dinner at p.f. changs, the restaurant that we had our very first date at many years ago.

~~~~~~
okay, there were definitely more than 7 things that made the weekend great.
but those are the only things i had pictures of.
two more things that i think should be mentioned:
 we watched tons of red boxes with popcorn and peanut butter m&m's, and ate an entire package of cookie dough.
i truly love weekends like these.
oh and on a side note.
while in huntington beach, it was not nice to see the guy on the street hammering a nail into his nose.
yep.
sick.
my birthday weekend...
kaleo came to visit me in california for my birthday weekend.
i always have the greatest time when people come to visit because that is when i get to try new touristy things.
little by little i get to check off items on my bucket list.
while he was here we "hiked" up close to the hollywood sign, we drove up mulholland drive, and we went to a lakers game.
we didn't make the official hike to the sign because we couldn't find the trail, so i'm not sure if that one counts or not.
but still, it was amazing to see the hollywood hills.
as some of you know, i'm kind of still obsessed with "the hills" even long after it has stopped airing.
so i always get so dang excited to see where lauren, heidi, and audrina have been!
we also did some other things that aren't on my bucket list, but still worth sharing.
we explored laguna and drank smoothies on the beach, watched a surf competition in huntington, ate corn dogs on the santa monica pier, ate dinner twice at downtown disney, and went to malibu for the very first time to eat at Duke's.
when he is here, it helps to make california feel a little more like my home.
and if you ask me, it was the perfect southern california weekend.
i made a short video with some of the pictures that we took over the weekend.
enjoy!
i could get used to this.
ever since laguna beach started airing on mtv, i have had an obsession with the town and a big dream to live there someday.
i have visited a few times with my family and i fall more in love every time.
last monday it was 90 degrees.
november- 90 degrees?!
so i packed up my new beach bag and headed to laguna.
i live just about twenty minutes away.
i rolled down my car window and enjoyed an amazing cruise down the pacific coast highway.
all the while i felt like someone needed to pinch me- i can't believe this is actually my life!
i laid out on the beach and fell asleep for a few hours.
it was perfect.
then i grabbed my camera from the car and walked up and down the streets taking pictures of laguna and all of its adorableness, stopping along the way at various boutiques and shops.
then i got an ice cream cone.
it was perfect.
i could get used to this...
welcome to california...
last saturday i arrived in southern california!
i made the move down here to attend cosmetology school at paul mitchell (which i looove... but more on that to come on a different day).
i was instantly greeted by my amazing family who lives just a short drive away.
on saturday night after moving me into my new house, my cousin and her husband took me out to dinner in downtown huntington beach.
i've been coming to southern california for years and i had never been to huntington.
i loved it so much that my family took me back the very next day for lunch!
we ate at fred's mexican cafe, which was delicious.
i get weak at the knees for any restaurant that serves you free chips and salsa...
we were seated outside with the most awesome beach view.
it was such a warm day and the beach was so crowded; which i couldn't believe since i was just coming from the cold and wet idaho weather.
my thought: why would anyone want to live anywhere other than southern california?
and i continue to ask myself that question every day...
i love huntington.
and i get to see my family again this weekend for another beach lunch date :)
